It's been a rough week for Sen. Marco Rubio. On Saturday, the Republican presidential hopeful wasted recent momentum with a disastrous debate performance. And on Tuesday, that performance resulted in a disappointing fifth-place finish in the New Hampshire primary. Now, it seems Rubio is having a dental issue.
The senator is eating soft foods for the time being, reports the Wall Street Journal's Erica Orden, because he cracked a molar while snacking on a Twix candy bar Wednesday. But just because his diet is limited, that doesn't mean he's compromising enjoyment. Rubio dug into a blueberry pancake breakfast Thursday morning.
Rubio got blueberry pancakes w blueberry syrup. He's trying to eat soft foods, he said, because he cracked a molar on a Twix bar yesterday.

The first question that might come to mind is, "How is it possible to break a tooth on a Twix, which doesn't even contain nuts?" Well, the candy bar was frozen, according to the Washington Post's Sean Sullivan, a detail no one on his campaign staff bothered to relay to Rubio.

The second question that comes out of this incident is, "Why did Rubio order blueberry pancakes with blueberry syrup?" That's a blueberry overload. If there are bluberries in the pancakes, it's logical to compliment them with a standard maple syrup. With this order, Rubio has created a one-note dish. Perhaps this was another case of the GOP candidate ill-advisedly repeating himself.
If this whole "running for president thing" doesn't work out, maybe Rubio can console himself by requesting a lifetime-supply of Twix bars from Mars, Inc. A British woman recently pulled a similar move with Hershey when she endured a traumatic experience with a Kit Kat bar.
