Watch: A Modern Take on Southern Cooking at Harold’s Meat + Three

Thirty side dishes make for endless combinations

Harold's Meat + Three, located on the ground floor of New York's Arlo Hotel on Hudson Street, serves up a modern take on Southern cooking and on the meat-and-three format as a whole. While traditional meat-and-three menus offer a rotating list of meaty main dishes plus a choice of sides, chef Harold Moore, formerly of Commerce, ups the ante with a tiered pricing system — the likes of meatballs and sausage on the lowest level, grilled salmon in the middle, and New York strip at the top. The menu also boasts as many as 30 side dishes, from classic mac and cheese and broccoli-rice casserole to Japanese sweet potatoes and whole roasted leeks.

Watch the segment of Perfectly Plated above to see a whole spread of mains and sides (plus a seriously sized slice of birthday cake) come together.
