Rory Gilmore, the reluctant Ice Cream Queen of Stars Hollow, must have a new favorite flavor. Brooklyn-based Ample Hills Creamery has been soliciting names and recipes for a new Gilmore Girls-themed ice cream, and the results are in: "They Scoop Gilmores, Don’t They?" is the frozen dessert fans of the show need in their freezers.
Ample Hills describes the flavor thusly:
Coffee (of course) chocolate pudding ice cream (because Emily is trying after all) but oy, with the snickerdoodles already-- topped with pink [Pop Tart] sprinkles.
The new flavor is being served at all of Ample Hills’s New York City scoop shops. But, Gilmore devotees who live outside the Big Apple needn’t worry. It’s available for purchase online right now. An individual pint can be had as part of the creamery’s "Choose Your Own Story" five-pack, or grab two pints in the "Where You Lead, I Will Marshmallow" four-pack. That option also includes a pint each of "No Sleep Till Pumpkin" and "Snap, Mallow, Pop!"
Ample Hills announced the flavor on Instagram, explaining it’s a collaboration of three winning ideas that were chosen from more than 2,500 suggestions.
"It was too hard to pick just one entry, so the final flavor is a combination of three different, highly Gilmore-specific entries: @paulin_beal's chocolate pudding suggestion (a reference to Emily Gilmore's attempt at chocolate pudding, as well as the Gilmore Girls well-documented love of coffee), @ryebecca's "oy with the snickerdoodles already" (a direct quote from supporting character Sookie, a chef) and @jjmmd's suggestion of the name (a reference to an episode title in season three)," an Ample Hills representative tells Eater.
Gilmore Girls originally aired on the WB and CW networks from 2000 to 2007. The show is making a return with four 90-minute episodes that will be released on Netflix November 25. Promotion surrounding the revival has been sending fans into mass-hysteria.
