Now You Can Supplant Rory Gilmore as the Ice Cream Queen of Stars Hollow

If you’re out on the road, feeling lonely and want something cold

Rory Gilmore didn’t even want to be the ice cream queen of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. She had just returned to town from hiking all over Europe, she was leaving for Yale earlier than expected — can you believe she wrote the date down wrong? — Taylor Doose didn’t even ask her! Well, just because Rory was ungrateful doesn’t mean her throne should remain vacant.

Gilmore Girls is coming back for a four-part revival on Netflix, and Brooklyn’s Ample Hills Creamery is getting in on the considerable hype surrounding the series. The scoop shop plans to debut a GG-themed flavor, and it’s calling on Sookie St. James wannabes to come up with the name and recipe. Ample Hills announced the stunt in an Instagram post earlier this week, offering an appropriate prize pack for the genius behind the winning creation.

The winner gets a free pint, a cup of coffee, and an invitation to Friday night dinner.

Ample Hills is asking contestants to submit flavor names and recipes via comments on the Instagram post, and the contest runs through October 31. As of this posting, more than 1,200 comments have been submitted. If Netflix’s recent pandemonium-inducing Luke’s Diner pop-ups are any indication, the Brooklyn scoop shop can expect the flavor to generate a fortune that would astonish even the likes of Emily and Richard Gilmore.
