Hero Restaurateurs Open George Costanza-Themed Bar

This must be the best bar in Australia.

Seinfeld fans, begin budgeting a trip to Australia. In Fitzroy, a suburb of Melbourne, someone has opened a George Costanza-themed bar, and it appears to be fantastic. George's Bar began service New Year's Eve, and it is so well done it's endorsed by the man himself.

The beverage menu features a few straightforward George-appropriate cocktails, including the Summer of George, Hand Model, and Marisa Tomei. To compliment the drinks, the staff is "on the hunt for the perfect pretzels," which will no doubt make customers thirsty. And of course, no Costanza-themed establishment would be complete without a throwback Frogger arcade game. There's no word on whether Snickers candy bars are required to be eaten with knife and fork, and we'll have to wait a year to see how the watering hole throws down for Festivus.

The menu of toasties appropriately doesn't include any pastrami, because the most sensual of all the salted cured meats should be reserved for the bedroom. Quotes by and photos of Costanza and his Seinfeld pals make up the decor. Co-owner Dave Barrett told the Sydney Morning Herald, "We came up with the name George's and worked backwards, concept theming it. George Costanza suits a bar in a lot of ways. The humour around George works."

The beauty of George's is it pays tribute to Costanza without trying to recreate a scene from Seinfeld — it isn't a theme park. It's a similar concept to The Lockhart, a low-key Harry Potter-themed bar that recently opened in Toronto.
