Cronut Creator Dominique Ansel Is Headed Across the Pond to London

The first UK branch will open this year.

Brace for a cronut invasion, London: New York-based patissier Dominique Ansel is headed that way. According to the milk and cookie shot inventor's Instagram, a London branch of Dominique Ansel Bakery will open sometime in 2016.

International expansion is clearly on the forefront of Ansel's mind: The pastry wizard just opened a bakery in Tokyo last summer, kicking things off with a special-to-Japan cronut flavor: Hokkaido milk honey ganache with yuzu lemon cream. Besides the much-imitated cronut, other Ansel innovations have included frozen s'moresthe waffogato (that's waffle + affogato), and a lobster tail-shaped pretzel stuffed with housemade peanut butter and buttercrunch brittle. Ansel also opened a second NYC bakery last year that features an eight-course dessert tasting menu.

Per a rep for Ansel, the bakery is hoping to open "sometime late this summer."
