New York hospitality group Public House Collective (The Rum House, Ward III) is behind Washington, D.C.'s newly minted Quarter+Glory, an American tavern inspired by old New York. Here, one will find a mix of seasonally-changing libations flavored with tamarind vinegar and sarsaparilla, in addition to all the classics. Below, the bar offers a smokey riff on the Negroni, with mezcal stepping in for gin.

Mezcal Negroni
Makes 1

1 ounce Campari
1 ounce mezcal, such as Ilegal, Joven
1 ounce sweet vermouth, such as Cinzano
orange peel

Add Campari, mezcal, and vermouth to mixing glass with ice and stir to combine. Strain mixture into chilled rocks glass with ice. Garnish with orange peel.
