Acclaimed chef Masaharu Morimoto's Disney World Resort restaurant is set to open September 30. Morimoto Asia was announced last year, and Morimoto has teamed up with the Patina Restaurant Group to open the concept. Located in Downtown Disney, the restaurant will serve a pan-Asian menu, which the press release notes includes the chef's takes on dishes like moo shu pork, lobster chow fun, and kung pao chicken. There will also be a dim sum-style brunch serve that will include a variety of dumplings, bao, and spare ribs. For kids, the chef has created a more Japanese-influenced menu that features chicken ramen and karaage fried chicken.
The two-story restaurant — which also features an exhibition kitchen — includes a 14-seat sushi counter on the second level. There, diners will have a chance to eat sashimi and a number of "speciality sushi rolls." As for drinks, the restaurant will mainly serve Asian beers, both by the bottle and on draft. A Morimoto signature beer by Oregon-based Rogue Ales will also be available, as well as a number of sakes, wines, and cocktails.
Morimoto Asia is just one of a number of restaurants coming soon to Downtown Disney. The Patina Restaurant Group is opening another restaurant called The Edison in 2016. It will feature cabaret dancers and contortionists. Plus this fall, an Indiana Jones-themed bar is slated to open. Called Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar, it will look like an airplane hangar.
