Kraft Recalls 335,000 Cases of Cheese Singles Due to Choking Hazard

Yikes.

Might want to put down that grilled cheese: According to the Associated Press, Kraft is expanding its recall of Kraft Singles cheese product. Early last month, the company voluntary recalled a batch of its iconic individually wrapped plasticky slices of cheese after it was revealed that they could be a choking hazard. It turned out that "thin strips of the individual packaging film" may remain adhered to the cheese product after the wrapper has been removed.

The extended recall, which is for the same reason, includes 335,000 cases of the cheese, which is 10 times as many batches as Kraft first thought it would affect: The company recalled only 36,000 cases last month. The new recall covers 1-, 3-, and 4-pound packages of Kraft Singles American and White American cheese and the products were sold across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and 10 other countries including South Korea and the Netherlands. Kraft recommends that customers return the product to the store where they purchased it for a full refund.

Kraft has endured a number of major recalls this year. In March, the company recalled 242,000 cases of its popular boxed macaroni and cheese. This is because they contained small pieces of metal. Yikes.
