The stunt food wizards over at Taco Bell are at it again, this time taking some inspiration from KFC. According to a Reddit thread, the chain has been testing a taco with a fried chicken shell. Yup, it's the Double Down of the pseudo-Mexican fast food chain world. Plus, haven't you heard? Chicken is really trendy right now.

A Taco Bell spokesperson tells Eater that the shell is made from breaded "all-white meat chicken" and that the taco is filled with shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, and diced tomatoes. Food Beast writes that it also features an avocado ranch sauce. Officially dubbed the Naked Crispy Chicken Taco, it is currently being tested at a few locations in Bakersfield, Calif. and will "roll out nationally if successful."

It's not really surprising that Taco Bell has created a taco with meat for a shell, after all, the chain does love a unconventional shell. The chain's Doritos Locos Taco, which features a shell dusted with Doritos powder, has been a runaway success for the restaurant. At one point, the chain was selling one million of the tacos per day. And in April, Taco Bell announced that it had started rolling out a Fritos corn chip taco shell at select locations.
