There's a new app that brings the bar to you, minus the crowds, uncomfortable stools, and questionable bathrooms. Called Instapour, InStyle writes that the drinks-on-demand service delivers cocktails to your door in an hour or less. The site — which currently only delivers in New York City and Los Angeles — offers a number of seasonal cocktails as well as a handful of "evergreen mainstays" like strawberry daiquiris.
According to Instapour's website, customers select what drinks they would like delivered from a web-based menu; drinks come batched for six or 12 people. Once selected, the cocktails are delivered by Postmates. Customers then have to combine the spirit with the mixer (which is made fresh) shake with ice, pour into a glass, and add the precut garnish. The cocktail packages are prepped and mixed by Warren Hode, an NYC-based mixologist.
Currently Instapour only offers rum and tequila-based cocktails like a prickly pear margarita and a riff on a paloma. Each cocktail serving is priced between $3.50 and $8, which is definitely cheaper than buying a drink in a New York City bar. The company plans to grow its cocktail line to include vodka, bourbon, whiskey, and gin-based drinks too in the near future. And, Instapour has some serious expansion plans in the works: The company is aiming to deliver in Chicago and San Francisco by the end of the year.
