A North Plainfield, N.J., woman is now $522,000 richer thanks to a fall she took in a Dunkin' Donuts parking lot a few years ago. According to MyCentralJersey.com, Maria Marsala tripped over an exposed spike from a curb stop and fell on the morning of January 18, 2012. At the time, she was carrying multiple coffees, which she spilled all over her face and neck. The fall also caused Marsala to cut her hand and knee.

Marsala quickly filed a lawsuit against the Dunkin' Donuts in Middlesex County Superior Court for failing to keep up with proper maintenance that would have prevented her fall. Her Somerset attorney, Ed Rebenack, says Marsala settled for the half-million-dollar payout before the case was set to go to trial this month. This is not the first lawsuit brought against Dunkin' Donuts, which was sued back in 2011 for making a customer's coffee too sugary.
