Anthony Bourdain, Mario Batali, and Gabrielle Hamilton Give Life Advice

"Is there a lazy hippie inside you somewhere deep that you're afraid of?"

Here's a bonus scene from the upcoming season of Mind of a Chef, which stars chef Gabrielle Hamilton. She is joined over many drinks at Bemelmans Bar in New York City by Mario Batali and Anthony Bourdain. The trio talk about life beyond the kitchen and what it takes to move on to other projects. Batali sagely notes: "The hardest thing for the chef in you to realize is that if you're not on the line, your restaurant is not failing. You already set the restaurant up."

Hamilton admits that the one big thing she has always wanted to do is write a novel while Bourdain reveals that he wants to teach creative writing ("I'd like to convince impressionable young minds that this is an important book that would be fun and worthwhile to read.") Bourdain then asks his drinking buddies a very important question: "Is there a lazy hippie inside you somewhere deep that you're afraid of?" Go, watch to see their answers. Mind of a Chef Season 4 premieres on PBS this month.
