The International Space Station might be better than your neighborhood Whole Foods. There is fancy Italian espresso, fine Japanese whiskeys, and now, fresh lettuces. NASA is currently testing hardware — codenamed, well, VEGGIE — in which plants take root in planting pillows that provide them with nutrients while an LED light fills in for sunshine. Soon that Chop't salad might have greens sourced from space.
