Businessman and comb-over enthusiast Donald Trump continues to lead the Republican field in the race to be the party's candidate in the 2016 presidential election, somehow gaining momentum after every ridiculous statement he makes. Inspired by Trump and his made-for-reality-TV candidacy, one Washington, D.C., diner is paying tribute to The Donald with his own menu item. The "Trump sandwich" at American City Diner is "full of bologna," reports WJLA-TV.
Facebook photos posted by American City Diner show that the sandwich is, in fact, piled high with bologna — just like Trump. Owner Jeffrey Gildenhorn, who claims to have run for Mayor of D.C. in 1988, said the sandwich will be available "as long as we have bologna."
Trump's name has been buzzing in the D.C. restaurant scene lately. After he made disparaging remarks about Mexican immigrants, José Andrés and Geoffrey Zakarian dropped out of his hotel project in the city. Trump is now suing both celebrity chefs.
