Don't expect to burglarize Stelly's Supermarket on Highway 71 in St. Landry Parish, La., and expect to get away with it. Lieutenant Clay Higgins, spokesperson for the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office, has made a name for himself by calling out criminals on YouTube and convincing them to turn themselves in, and now he wants to find the man who burglarized Stelly's. In this video, Higgins, known as the "Cajun John Wayne," declares the criminal will be caught, and then proclaims he'll celebrate with a meal at Stelly's.
"Look at me, son, I'm talking to you. The sheriff likes Stelly's restaurant, and so do I. The food here is good, and the folks are friendly. We're going to identify you, arrest you, and put you in a small cell. After that, I'm gonna have a cheeseburger here, with fries and a Coke, and leave a nice tip for the waitress."
You can run, but you can't hide, Stelly's burglar. This police officer means business. If Higgins could take his talents beyond the local jurisdiction, he'd stay plenty busy. Last week, for example, a McDonald's customer punched an employee because the restaurant ran out of double cheeseburgers.
