Basketball Star Dwyane Wade Launches His Own Wine Line

Basketball player Dwyane Wade is the latest celebrity to launch his own wine line. According to Sports Illustrated, the 33-year-old Miami Heat star launched his label — simply titled "Wade" — while on a press tour in China this weekend. While there are few details available about his line, the athlete posted an image of the bottles on Instagram and it appears to be a varietal of red wine. It's unclear if the bottles are currently available for purchase.

Wade joins a long list of fellow sports stars who have released wine brands including former basketball player Yao Ming and ex-NFL star Drew Bledsoe. However, both of the athletes are retired. Is this Wade's way of signaling that his NBA career might be ending soon?

Hopefully for Wade, his wine line is a slam dunk and not a total catastrophe like his attempt to start a restaurant empire. Several years ago, Wade opened two D. Wade's Sports Grills in Florida, but they only lasted for a few months. Shortly after, he was sued by two groups of investors for $150 million for walking away from the two restaurants (and a charter school operation for inner city kids).
