Tanya Tandoc, owner of popular Wichita restaurant Tanya's Soup Kitchen, was found dead late Thursday evening. A man claiming to be Tandoc's boyfriend confessed to her murder, reports KAKE-TV.
Two police officers reportedly were dispatched to Tandoc's home and found 47-year-old Curtis Mitchell, who said he lived in the basement. After the officers returned to their car, Mitchell called 911 and confessed to the crime. He was arrested and booked on a first-degree murder charge. Officers then found Tandoc's body inside the basement.
The restaurant, which is temporarily closed, posted a statement on its Facebook page.
