Heart-shaped fried rice emporium Benihana was the site of a shootout this weekend. According to the Dallas Morning News, two men were leaving a Dallas location of the restaurant around 10 p.m. on Father's Day when two others approached them and asked for a lighter. That's when things took a turn for the worse.
The suspects who asked for a lighter then put on a mask and "pulled out a handgun from his waistband," intending to rob the Benihana's customers. Fox News writes that the robber didn't count on one of the victims having a gun of his own in his car, which he grabbed. The suspect and the victim started shooting at one another. The 28-year-old suspect was killed. The victim was shot but "his injuries are not life threatening." Police are still hunting for the second suspect who managed to run away.
In April, a Benihana in California was the site of another unfortunate incident. Actress Tori Spelling was taken to the hospital after tripping and burning her hand on one of the restaurant's searing hot grills. Check out the local news story below:
