Food Network mainstay, picky eater, and restaurateur Giada De Laurentiis is starring in a new daytime series titled Giada in Italy. According to a release, the 13-episode show will feature De Laurentiis as she explores her birthplace. She'll also demonstrate family recipes while touring Italy.
The first episode will introduce the setting for the show, a summer house near Sorrento, Italy, and follow De Laurentiis as she visits a local market for fresh ingredients to make dishes like grilled treviso, pan-seared branzino, and fresh citrus with gelato and almond cookies. Viewers can expect episodes on the exploration of her grandfather's (Hollywood producer Dino De Laurentiis) former pasta factory, the making of a California-style feast for her uncle's soccer team, and meals prepared from her grandmother's original recipe book. Also to be expected, a lot of Italian words pronounced in the host's famously annoying accent.
The show will premiere on Food Network on Sunday, July 19, at 11 a.m. ET and air simultaneously with Season 11 of De Laurentiis' other show Food Network Star, which is set to conclude in mid-August.
