Taco Bell Blesses the Taco Emoji

"One step closer to filling a void in the hearts and keyboards of taco lovers everywhere."

The announcement that the taco emoji is finally a reality has fans of the Mexican delicacy jumping for joy. Among the happiest appear to be the folks at Taco Bell, America's favorite fast food Tex-Mex chain. In a statement provided to Eater, the company gave its full-throated praise to Unicode for adopting the new emoji.

"Unicode Consortium's approval of the Taco emoji brings us one step closer to filling a void in the hearts and keyboards of taco lovers everywhere. Our fans love tacos, and they love emojis — the 30,000 petition signatures and support on social media is proof of what is possible when you bring those things together. With this major milestone, we're hopeful the taco emoji will find its way into the mobile operating system updates soon to make our taco dreams a delicious reality."

Perhaps the emoji will help Taco Bell connect with the all-important Millennial demographic, which seems to be confounding the company with its bizarre lingo.
