Brooks Sandwich House Is North Carolina's Mecca for Chili Cheeseburgers

Visit Brooks Sandwich House, the Charlotte restaurant with perhaps the best chili cheeseburger in the nation.

This year, Eater is teaming up with James Beard award-winning Southern Foodways Alliance to spotlight their documentary work, premiering a short film every other week. This next piece focuses on Brooks Sandwich House, a 40 year-old shop run by twins David and Scott Brooks in Charlotte, North Carolina. Specializing in hot dogs, smashed burgers, and liver mush sandwiches all covered in chili, it has long been a staple with blue collar workers and now attracts tourists from around the country.

Fans have tried to buy and steal the chili recipe, but "so far we've kept it under wraps." Check it out.
