It's hard to be a kid; they run a near-daily gauntlet of homework, first loves, bullies, and skinned knees. Jack, a majorly adorable young man from Portland Ore., faced another common childhood issue a couple of weeks ago at a local business: getting majorly, explosively sick in public places.
According to this Woman's Day article, Jack got sick in a Portland restaurant on March 28th — adjacent to the bathroom, no less (Note: while almost every mention of this story we've seen online places Jack inside a restaurant, we have not been able to confirm this). He felt so bad for the staff that had to clean up after him that he sent an apology note along with a Ben & Jerry's gift card.
An employee posted the card on Reddit, which reads:
This Ben and Jerry's card is for the people who cleaned up the throw up of a kid on Friday the 28th. I don't know their names, but I thank them a lot and I'm sorry for throwing up and hope you enjoy your ice cream.
From Jack AKA the kid that puked right next to the bathroom
It's all right, son. It happens to everyone.
UPDATE: Jack did not, in fact get sick in a restaurant, but at Powell's Books for Home and Garden. He addressed the letter to Powell's, "Attention Barf Cleaners."
