The inaugural BITE Silicon Valley, a forum on the future of food and its relationship with technology, will be held this June 5 though 7 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. According to the event's Facebook page, BITE will bring together "the best and the brightest in the worlds of culinary and tech will converge at the epicenter of American innovation."
The event, which is hosted by Octagon Culinary, will employ chef José Andrés (ThinkFoodGroup, Beefsteak, Washington, DC) as its "Chef Chair," ostensibly an emcee and moderator for the gathering. He will give a keynote address, as will Hampton Creek CEO Josh Tetrick.
Chef Roi Choi (Kogi, POT, Los Angeles) is expected to give a presentation on his new venture Loco'l, a restaurant that aims to reinvent the concept of fast food. Chef Michael Chiarello (Top Chef Masters, Coqueta, Bottega) will join Dr. Robert Fraley, executive vice president of Monsanto, in what will likely be a spirited conversation on GMOs.
In addition to the speakers, there will be a Grand Tasting, various culinary demonstrations, and ample opportunities for iPhone-happy food-enthusiasts to post pictures to their Instagram accounts. Tickets to BITE Silicon Valley, which start at $149, can be purchased here.
