Fiorello Dolce — a bakery in Huntington, NY — just released a new pastry that it's calling the Frenagel. Described as a French doughnut-bagel hybrid, the cronut-like creation involves a ring of layered pastry shaped like a doughnut which is filled with whipped scallion cream cheese and topped with sesame seeds, poppy seeds, and sea salt.
Meanwhile, pastry wizard Dominique Ansel — the cronut inventor — has moved on to bigger and better things. Nice try, Fiorello Dolce.
