Chef's Table is the name of Netflix's newest show, a documentary series that profiles some of the most cutting-edge chefs around the world today. This morning, Netflix released the trailer for the show, which is directed and produced by filmmaker David Gelb (Jiro Dreams of Sushi). Per a release, Chef's Table "goes inside the lives and kitchens" of chefs Ben Shewry (Attica Restaurant in Melbourne, Australia), Magnus Nilsson (Fäviken in Järpen Sweden), Francis Mallmann (El Restaurante Patagonia Sur in Buenos Aires, Argentina), Niki Nakayama (N/Naka Restaurant in Los Angeles, CA, USA), Dan Barber (Blue Hill Restaurant at Stone Barns and in New York City, USA) and Massimo Bottura (Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy).
In the same vein as A Chef's Life and The Mind of a Chef, both of which air on PBS, the series seeks to demystify the often convoluted and mesmerizing creativity of great, award-winning chefs. In the preview clip — which is full of evocative, gorgeous imagery — chefs are seen plating and playing with food, interacting with nature, and talking about what goes through their heads while they craft and plate a dish.
Chef's Table premieres on Netflix on April 26.
