Surprise, surprise the latest stunt food truck based off of a popular show was a certified hit. According to a press release, over 3,400 people lined-up at the first ever The Simpsons' Kwik-E-Mart truck over the weekend at SXSW in Austin, Texas. Festival goers endured the heat for a free Squishee — or the cartoon's version of a slushy. Apparently, the truck gave away 2.6 Squishees per minute.
Eater Austin writes that the truck offered two flavors — Not So Very Cherry and Give ‘Em the Razz — and that it was created to celebrate "the convenience store's first appearance on the show 25 years ago." The lines were long, as they often are for stunts and free food. For those who weren't able to attend SXSW, the truck is going on tour, but dates and stops have not been released yet. Until then, there's always this Lego Kwik-E-Mart to play with.
The Simpsons' isn't the only show to turn a place from a TV show into a reality. The creators of Arrested Development set up Bluth's Original Frozen Banana Stands in London, New York, and Los Angeles to celebrate the premiere of the fourth season on Netflix in 2013.
