Here's a preview for the new Travel Channel series Breaking Borders, co-starring Los Angeles chef (and Top Chef season six winner) Michael Voltaggio. As previously reported, the series features Voltaggio and award-winning news correspondent Mariana van Zeller traveling to "conflict zones" including Rwanda, Jerusalem, Beirut, Cuba, and beyond. As the show's official website explains, "as Mariana digs deeper into the issues, Michael goes on a culinary adventure, collecting ideas and ingredients to create an unbelievable meal inspired by the people he has met" — and resulting in some seriously tense situations, as the video above demonstrates. "I hope people watch the show, start their own conversations, and it gets bigger than that one dinner table," Voltaggio told Eater recently. "We're not creating world peace. We're out there just helping people have an opportunity to tell their stories."
The first episode debuts Sunday at 9 p.m. EST/8 p.m. CST.
