Blackberry Farm in Tennessee's Smoky Mountain foothills — a Relais & Chateaux Member and multiple James Beard award-winner — set the scene for the latest Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. Hannah Davis, an American model, posed for the cover shot standing coyly against a backdrop of a white fence and spring green grass. The farm looks downright sexy. Somewhere nearby there is probably a platter of just-roasted meat and farm-fresh peaches and melons and cucumbers.
Julian Van Winkle, creator of the famous Pappy Van Winkle bourbon, once said of Blackberry Farm: "The sights, the sounds, the smells, the terroir... like the ingredients in a fine bourbon, those which comprise Blackberry Farm are, in essence, all about the earth."
What's next? A Playboy shoot in The French Laundry's garden?
Davis clearly exemplifies this essence in her shoot. Note her lowered bikini bottoms and her well-positioned, ahm, smoky mountains. Her girlish facial expression says both: "Feed me," and "Objectify me."
Choosing a restaurant and farm as the setting for a shoot is a first for Sports Illustrated. In years' past, the swimsuit issue featured a model on a beach, in the water, or in a studio.
What's next? A Maxim spread at Blue Hill at Stone Barns? A Playboy shoot in The French Laundry's garden?
