The new restaurant within White Hart — the Salisbury, Connecticut inn co-owned by popular author/Chipotle scribe Malcolm Gladwell — will open this weekend. Last month, White Hart announced that it had hired British chef Annie Wayte to head up the kitchens at the inn's new fine-dining restaurant, also called White Hart, and its more casual dining option, the Tap Room.
A press release notes that the White Hart restaurant will only be open on the weekends to start. Its schtick is very farm-to-table: The release drops phrases about the restaurant's aims, like that it plans to "highlight seasonal ingredients" and source from "nearby farms." Diners can expect a perpetually rotating menu of dishes like roasted monkfish with freekeh, winter vegetable curry with apple raita, and a crab and avocado salad. The Tap Room, however, will serve British-inspired comfort food like a duck shepherd's pie. White Hart opens February 27.
