Former LA Chef David Myers Debuts First Singapore Restaurant

The Hinoki & the Bird and Comme Ça chef crosses the Pacific.

Chef David Myers — a 2003 Food & Wine Best New Chef and the onetime proprietor of Los Angeles hotspots Hinoki & the Bird and Comme Ça — has launched a "new brand" in SingaporeSingapore newspaper TODAY reports Myers' restaurant Adrift is now open inside the five-star Marina Bay Sands hotel, with the 4,000-square-foot restaurant offering Myers's "personal ode to the vibrant experiences I've encountered in my many travels." A look at the opening menu reveals that play on Californian and Asian influences, with dishes like preserved green papaya and lobster soup, and buckwheat fried chicken served with honey mustard sauce.

Myers left his namesake LA restaurant group in June 2014, announcing then that he was pursuing new projects in Singapore. (In the months since, Comme Ça has been long shuttered for a still-pending remodel, while Hinoki & the Bird lost opening chef Kuniko Yagi by the end of 2014). Adrift, meanwhile, joins several other celebrity chef concepts in the tony Marina Bay Sands hotel: Daniel Boulud, Gordon Ramsay, David Thompson, Wolfgang Puck, and Mario Batali all have concepts inside the massive resort, which houses 60 restaurants in total. (Batali has two, offering outposts of his Osteria Mozza and Pizzeria Mozza.) Adrift is open now.
