The Hallmark Channel's newest film has everything a person could desire in a movie — murder, romance, suspense, and chocolate chip cookies. According to a pun-happy press release, the channel will premiere the made-for-TV movie Murder She Baked: A Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder Mystery on May 10. The film stars Biggest Loser host Alison Sweeney and All My Children star Cameron Mathison in a story about an "expert baker who becomes a culinary detective."
Sweeney's character's bakery, the Cookie Jar, is the scene of a crime when her delivery man/good friend is found murdered there. She sets out to solve the murder while naturally becoming entangled in a "romantic mystery of her own." (Plot twist!) The film is based on the New York Times best-selling book by Joanne Fluke called Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder.
This isn't the first culinary-focused film the Hallmark Channel has produced. In 2012, the channel aired a made-for-TV rom-com called Taste of Romance. It centered around an ex-firefighter turned cook and a classically trained chef who fall in love.
