Minneapolis's Travail Adds Dynamic Pricing; Rita's Plans Massive CA Expansion

Plus, Top Chef alum Tiffani Faison announces a new project.


MINNEAPOLIS— Robbinsdale's Travail Kitchen is the latest restaurant to adopted a ticketed system in lieu of more traditional reservations: Eater MPLS reports the popular restaurant will use TempoTickets as its ticket provider. Like many restaurants that have entered the ticketed space — many through Nick Kokonas's system Tock — Travail will offer seats at dynamic prices, with tables priced differently depending on the time of evening and day of the week. CALIFORNIA— The Pennsylvania-based Rita's Italian Ice chain has announced massive expansion plans for Northern California. According to Eater SF, the brand plans more than 60 new CA locations, as part of a partnership with San Francisco's Ice Empire. Thus far, locations in Napa, Santa Cruz, and Fresno have been confirmed; head over to read the entire list. [ESF]

BOSTON— Top Chef OG Tiffani Faison (who appears on the reality competition's first season) has announced a new restaurant: Eater Boston reports Faison will open the "Southeast Asian-inspired" restaurant Tiger Mama just down the street from her barbecue spot Sweet Cheeks. Tiger Mama is aiming for a July 2015 opening. [EBOS]
