Is Smashing One's Face Into Bread the Next Big Food Trend?

New, 1 comment

Hopefully not, but maybe so.

Here's the thing about art: It's completely open to personal interpretation, and nothing can be disqualified. On a related note, someone has created an Instagram account dedicated solely to a woman pressing her face into various bread items. Appropriately, the account is called @breadfaceblog.

That's the most recent post, simply titled "12. Cornbread ." As you might imagine, there are 11 previous posts, featuring baked goods such as naan, challah, and English muffins. The whole thing started 19 weeks ago with Martin's potato rolls. A corresponding Tumblr account offers reviews for some of the breads.

Why would someone undertake such an odd endeavor? Was America's food-obsessed population clamoring for this sort of thing? The account's bio doesn't care: "Bread Face giving the people something they didn't ask for." It remains to be seen whether Bread Face will be as popular as an Instagram account that poses cats with craft beer paraphernalia.
