Film world luminary and general famous person Francis Ford Coppola took a break from his roles as film director, screen writer, producer, and wine maker to work the hot line as a cook at a recent event in Morocco. The Oscar-winner made pasta for 100 guests at a dinner hosted by fashion house Dior in honor of the Marrakech International Film Festival. One imagines a scene out of The Godfather, but it sounds like it was a more formal affair full of fashion world types.
Still, Coppola didn't go big — or Big Night-style — opting instead to prepare a simple spaghetti a la tomate et basilic (spaghetti with tomatoes and basil) for the well-healed guests, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Coppola was already in town serving as jury president for the festival's nine-day run. He was given a standing ovation after his pasta dish was presented. Imagine what would have happened had he pulled a Timpano out of the oven.
