In this final installment of Dining on a Dime, host Lucas Peterson returns to South L.A. in search of the perfect pupusa: the national dish of El Salvador. The pupusa is a disk of corn that's typically stuffed with meat, cheese, and/or beans, cooked on a hot grill, and served with a cool fermented cabbage mixture. Lucas finds wonderful pupusas in a welcoming atmosphere in a Salvadoran family's backyard, where the matriarch runs a small pupuseria every weekend.
