Last night on Conan, host Conan O'Brien discussed a study which revealed the most popular Halloween candy in each state. While he talked about the map an audience member decked out in in a jacket labeled with the Necco Candy Company's logo shouted: "I'm looking at that map and calling bullcrap. Everyone knows that the number one candy in the world is Necco Wafers. Nobody can resist that dry, dusty crunch." O'Brien accused him of lying and the audience member swiftly defended himself: "You know what doesn't lie? The smile on a child's face when he unwraps Necco Wafers' rainbow of fun colors like pale green, beige, and charcoal gray."
Other audience members chimed in about their favorite old-timey candies. A man standing up for Circus Peanuts made a creepy case for why it is the best candy, followed by a woman who compared Circus Peanuts to a "diabetic's burp." She then tried to convince Conan that Mary Janes are the best ("It's the only candy that looks like it was left in your trick-or-treat bag by your grandmother's ghost"), but failed.
