Even with the emergence of online dating, the American bar still serves as prime real estate for singles who are ready to mingle. That being the case, awful pickup lines are pretty common at watering holes across the country, and bartenders are forced to listen to the worst of the worst. In this video, a few cocktail professionals share the terrible things patrons have said in an attempt to avoid going home alone.
Unfortunately, while pickup lines still exist in the wild, the Internet seems to make them worse: "It really has, in my mind, destroyed that bar culture of the pickup lines and the talking," says Ryan Wainwright of Terrine in Los Angeles. "They're not as creative, they're not as good."
