Not satisfied with taking six months and spending $1,500 to build a sandwich from scratch, How To Make Everything host Andy George is taking on the root beer float. Over the next few weeks, George's YouTube series will run episodes featuring root beer, maple syrup, ice cream and more, all made from scratch. It will all conclude on November 5 with an episode that shows off George's results.
George explains the history of the cold treat in this preview: "In Philadelphia, in the summer of 1874, Robert McCay Green ran out of ice at his soda shop. His solution was using ice cream instead of ice and ended up inventing the ice cream float." George plans to follow in Green's footsteps, but it appears his process will require a little more effort.
