Restaurant-related moves and television shows are so hot right now, and Sang Yoon of Father's Office in Los Angeles is getting in on the action. Yoon has partnered with Empire co-executive producer Ingrid Escajeda to sell On The Line, a "soapy restaurant drama" to 20th Century Fox TV, writes Deadline. Escajeda will write and executive produce the show, and Yoon will be a non-writing executive producer.
On The Line is reportedly inspired by Yoon, but its central character is female chef Juna Kim, a "man-izing, motorcycle-riding force of nature who must battle the 'banging and brawling' chaos of her restaurant staff, the disdain of her old-school Korean parents, and the return of her estranged ex-husband, all while struggling to push her career beyond the famous burger that made her a star." It sounds like there will be no shortage of drama for each hour-long episode.
Yoon and Escajeda will hope to replicate the success of Bob's Burgers, another food-centric Fox show that was recently renewed for its seventh and eighth seasons on the network. How well a "soapy restaurant drama" will be received remains to be seen, but at least we know who will cater the wrap party.
