Watch a Teaser for Corey Lee's Hotly Anticipated Benu Cookbook

Three-Michelin-starred chef talks about his first book.

As previously reported, San Francisco's three-Michelin-starred chef Corey Lee will soon release his first cookbook, Benu, one of Eater's most anticipated of the Spring cookbook reason. Here now, is the book's first teaser, which features Lee talking about the restaurant and his approach to cooking. "When someone asks me what kind of restaurant Benu is, my first answer is, 'It's an American restaurant," Lee says. "It's open to the influence of all different kinds of cultures."

The short film doesn't provide an inside look at the book itself, but Lee reiterates the volume will walk readers through one of the restaurant's 33-course tasting menus — revealing how his own inspirations and life experiences are reflected within. "Food is identity," Lee says. "It's the most revealing thing about you, about a culture, where you come from, how you live, what's important to you. They go hand-in-hand." Benu by Corey Lee will hit store shelves on April 13; in the meantime, watch the video above.
