Chef and renowned cookbook author Yotam Ottolenghi and his partner chef Sami Tamimi are opening a new outpost of their restaurant Ottolenghi in London. According to a press release, Ottolenghi Spitalfields will feature the chainlet's iconic display of cakes, pastries, salads, and nibbles. There will also be a 70-seat restaurant attached to the deli which will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Unlike the other three Ottolenghi locations, this outpost will include a "grab and go" fridge for those on the move. Others can order a more leisurely meal at the restaurant's long dine-in bar.
As at other Ottolenghi locations, this one will feature a continually evolving menu of dishes featuring flavors and produce from the Mediterranean, North Africa, and the Middle East. Offerings include dishes like shakshuka for breakfast, roasted chicken with honey and saffron and lamb kofta with pine nuts for lunch, and barley with pomegranate molasses and nori-wrapped seared tuna for diner.
There will also be a lengthy wine list compiled by sommelier Heidi Knudsen which includes plenty of natural wines. Ottolenghi Spitalfields will also serve cocktails, many of which are similar to those found at the chefs' fine dining restaurant NOPI. Expect drinks like a sumac martini and a chilli-infused old-fashioned. Ottolenghi Spitalfields is slated to open this March. Check out some photos of the food below:
