White Hart — an inn located in Salisbury, Connecticut — is opening a new restaurant. According to a press release, the inn dates back to the 1800s and was recently bought and restored. The new owners include Redbook editor-in-chief Meredith Rollins and famous author/Chipotle scribe Malcolm Gladwell (The Tipping Point, Outliers). White Hart was apparently a "beloved local institution for centuries" before it unexpectedly closed five years ago.
British chef Annie Wayte — formally of 202 in London — will head up the kitchen at the inn's new restaurant, also called White Hart. There she will serve an upscale menu that will change daily and will "highlight seasonal ingredients sourced from nearby farms." In White Hart's more casual Tap Room, Wayte currently serves British comfort fare like a duck shephard's pie. The new restaurant is slated to open in February.
