Food at the New Yorker Festival; Cochon's NYC Pop-Up

NEW YORK CITY— The annual New Yorker festivalOctober 10 to 12) has finally unveiled its 2014 line-up, and as per usual, several of the highbrow events have a culinary focus. Among them: Writer Calvin Trillin will host a dinner/conversation with the team behind Russ & Daughters; three New Yorker editors host "critic-curated" dinners at secret locations; and an open-day talk focuses on counterfeit wine. Tillin will also, once again, lead his infamous walking tour to Chinatown. Tickets for all events go on sale September 12. [TNY]

NEW YORK CITY— New Orleans' acclaimed Cochon will pop-up inside Momofuku Ssäm Bar in the latest installment of its ongoing "late night" dinner series. The event is scheduled for October 7, with the Momofuku team promising more information by next week. Eater NY points out that reservations for previous late-night installments "sold out almost immediately," so interested parties should start hitting refresh at the official site on September 16 at 10a.m. [EaterWire]

CALIFORNIA— Acclaimed Australian chef Ben Shewry (of Melbourne's lauded Attica) will visit Christopher Kostow's Restaurant at Meadowood as part of an all-star line-up of guest chefs. According to ISSF, Shewry will join Kostow, David Kinch (Manresa), Daniel Patterson (Coi), and James Syhabout (Commis) for a one-off collaborate dinner on Tuesday, October 28. Reservations are $450, with a portion of proceeds benefiting Napa's Clinic Ole Community Health, which has remained closed following late-August's earthquake. [ISSF]
