Less than a year after its sister magazine Time published a male-dominated list of the Gods of Food, Fortune — in collaboration with Food & Wine — today released a 25-person list titled The Most Innovative Women in Food and Drink. The list contains only three self-identified chefs — Nancy Silverton (Mozza), Christina Tosi (Momofuku Milk Bar), and Giada De Laurentiis (Giada) — and omits the often cited Alice Waters. Rachael Ray is included, but is described as a "TV Host, Author, Philanthropist." Her donation efforts are striking: She has given more than "$10 million for kids'-health and shelter-animal charities."
Women in the beverage business include Barbara Banke (Jackson Family Wines), Judy Chan (Grace Vineyard), Gina Gallo (Gallo Winery), and Kim Jordan (New Belgium Brewing). Finally, restauranteur Kylie Kwong makes the cut for her award-winning Sydney restaurant Billy Kwong, which has bugs on the menu. Go, check out the full list.
