McDonald's Oakbrook, Ill. headquarters was evacuated earlier today after a suspicious package was found. According to the Chicago Tribune, police received a 911 call from one of McDonald's security personnel just before 11 a.m. today about the package. Around 1,300 employees were then evacuated. USA Today notes that most did not return to work because somehow the company still has "Summer Fridays" in September.
The area was "cleared" shortly thereafter when the bomb squad determined the item was not a bomb. The package was actually just a "digital media player" and not exactly a threat, though, the same probably cannot be said about McDonald's new chorizo-ish burrito.
