Coca-Cola Wants to Lure Customers To Vending Machines By Offering Free Wifi

The wifi hotspot vending machines are only available in South Africa.

In perhaps the greatest ploy to attract customers to its vending machines (besides loading up the product with a crap ton of sugar), Coca-Cola is turning them into wifi hotspots. According to the Atlanta Business Journal, Coke has teamed up with BT Global to transform the machines so that South African residents can have free and easy access to the internet. The only catch is they must be close enough to stare at machine dispensing ice-cold carbonated goodness all day. Unsurprisingly, the two sites chosen for the launch are near a school and a shopping center: There is no charge for users, but no doubt Coke is hoping that users bring pocket money to grab a drink.
