Stoner favorite White Castle is ostensibly getting into the "Italian-themed" burger game with the limited-time only release of its "ItalianoFest menu," featuring its usual beef and chicken sliders topped with pepperoni, marinara sauce, and mozzarella. Two chicken sliders get "Italian-ized" simply with the addition of sauce and cheese, while the "Pizza Slider" is a normal White Castle burger topped with marinara, mozzarella, and a slice of pepperoni. Suggested side: mozzarella sticks with dipping sauce.
White Castle has been getting "creative" of late. Earlier this year, it experimented with a veggie slider (featuring avocado ranch dressing) in select markets, and in March, it again half-heartedly reached toward the European continent with a line of Belgian waffle breakfast sandwiches. Meanwhile, other fast-food interpretations of Italian food remain equally odd: McDonald's Spain recently announced its Little Italy-themed hamburgers would arrive topped with Italian dressing.
