The New York Times' recipe site NYT Cooking — which launched in beta in May — will officially be available as an iPad app today. According to a spokesperson, the app is edited by food editor Sam Sifton and features more than 16,000 recipes from the NYT archive. There are also "handpicked" recipe collections such as "What Am I Going to Cook With This Stuff From the Farmers Market?" and users can create their own collections.
Recipe recommendations will be provided to users based on their "past browsing history." The app also includes a slew of video demonstrations of "useful cooking techniques" from NYT staffers like Mark Bittman and Melissa Clark. All of the content provided in the app and on the web are free and "will not count against the 10-article a month limit" for those who do not subscribe to the paper. The NYT Cooking iPad app debuts today.
