What's behind the social media trend known as "Snackwave"? The Hairpin's guide to "Snackwave" — aka the proud embrace of unhealthy junk food among social-media-savvy women — describes it as "the antithesis to kale-ridden health food culture and Pinterest-worthy twee cupcake recipes." It's also a quiet (or loud, pizza-printed-t-shirt) protest: "Snackwave is about taking pleasure in foods that are deemed off-limits for women... Snackwave is the rejection of the notion that ONLY dudes eat these foods, that women ONLY eat leafy greens." [The Hairpin]
